Measure Motivation: The Student Motivation Snapshot

Student Motivation Snapshot: a quick pre/post check-in to start the conversation. Free download, illustrated with a checklist.

The Student Motivation Snapshot is a short, practical tool for seeing how a student feels about school and for noticing changes over time.

How educators use it

  • Give it at the start of a 6-, 9-, or 21-week cycle.
  • Repeat it at the end to see what shifted.
  • Use the results to start a conversation, not to label a student.

What it is not

It is a conversation starter. It is not a validated diagnostic instrument and should not be used to make placement, disciplinary, or mental-health decisions.

The Snapshot is free and part of the Educator Starter Kit.
