Before a student decides anything, they need accurate numbers. A credit audit, sometimes called a transcript or graduation review, provides them.
What to ask for
- Credits earned and credits still needed
- Required courses and assessments still outstanding
- An estimated graduation date
- Approved recovery options: online, summer, evening, or alternative school
How to ask
Email or meet with the school counselor: “Can I get a written credit and graduation review, and a follow-up meeting to go over my options?” Ask for it in writing and note the date.
Rules differ by state and district. Always confirm requirements with your school or district office.
